 As per last year, this year I will be using an App called Remind. Through this App I will send updates about important class information, as well it is a simple way to communicate if your child will be away or have any questions about homework. The last page of the Family Handbook and September hot lunch payments are due by Friday, September 13^th. Our Terry Fox Run will also be taking place Friday, September 13^th. Students are encouraged to come to school in their SJA gym uniform. Don’t forget about those pledges!! I will be accepting pledges all week long!! We are also encouraging all students to bring a ‘Toonie for Terry’ and are asking that students come to school dressed in their SJA gym pants/shorts along with their house coloured gym shirt. If students do not own a house t-shirt, they may wear their regular gym shirt.

Thursday, September 19^th is our SJA and Oakwood Welcome Back BBQ, which will take place from 4:00-5:30 PM out in our back recess area. Order forms have been sent home. Please return, along with cash, no later than Friday, September 13th.

                                             

Inquiry into Language

Today in language we started our Percy Jackson novel. Students read chapter 1 and began on our comprehension questions #1-5. If it was not completed in class it is for homework due tomorrow. We will work on completing questions #5-10 tomorrow.

Inquiry into Mathematics

Today in math we explored one million. One million is 1000 thousands. MMS pg 12-13 is for homework if it was not completed in class.

Today in UOI we defined matter and discussed the three that we will focus on - solid, liquid, and gas. We learned what an atom and molecule are and how the molecules differ in each state. We read information on each state and we watched a couple of videos - one for gas (Gas Bubble Demonstration) and one for solid (Ball and Ring). We also did a quick experiment using hot water, cold water, and food colouring. Ask me what happened in the experiment and in the videos!!
