Through this App I will send updates about important class information, as well it is a simple way to communicate if your child will be away or have any questions about homework. The last page of the Family Handbook and September hot lunch payments are due by Friday, September 13th. Our Terry Fox Run will also be taking place this day. Students are encouraged to come to school in their SJA gym unform and their house colour t-shirt.

Thursday, September 19th is our SJA and Oakwood Welcome Back BBQ, which will take place from 4:00-5:30 PM out in our back recess area. Order forms have been sent home. Please return, along with cash, no later than Friday, September 13th.

Today in language students wrote their spelling words in their agendas and began working on spelling lesson #1: words with the sound of k,kw, and n. If spelling lesson #1 was not completed in class it is for homework, due Wednesday.

Today in math students wrote their math pre-assessment for Unit #2: Whole Numbers.
Unit of Inquiry
Today we began our matter unit. We went over our learning goals and success criteria, as well as our central idea, key concepts, and lines of inquiry. First we had a brief discussion about what matter is and then we watched a short clip about matter. Students took notes as they watched the clip. Then in table groups students filled out the K and W in their KWL Charts. Lastly, students had an opportunity to write something on our wonder wall.
