A Message from Mrs. Hayward

The Grand Opening of the new soccer dome is happening on Wednesday, November 14th from 4:00-5:30 PM. Please see flyer below for more information.

Today was world kindness day. Thank you to all students who participated. Students wrote an act of kindness they have participated in and wrote it on a hand. The hands were collected to create a world kindness tree with all of the students hands.

Creating our Kindness Hands

Inquiry into Mathematics

Today we began our Geometry Unit. Today we reviewed  some angle - an acute, obtuse, and right angle. We explored straight and reflex angles. We also learned how to properly draw different types of angles.

Our next unit, Geometry, is a short one…there is only 5 lessons. It is looking like the test for Geometry will take place on Friday, November 23rd.

Finding different angles

Inquiry into Language

Today in Language we practiced our Christmas Concert song. We also practiced our typing on typingclub.com. Students are welcome to also practice at home as long as they do not surpass our current level that week. Our level this week is 137.

Unit of Inquiry

Today in UOI as a class we read about the gods and goddesses, the sphinx and the Rosetta Stone. Once we finished reading students worked on activities about the
gods and goddesses, the sphinx and the Rosetta Stone. Students worked in groups and independently as they had to do more research about the Rosetta Stone.

It is hard to believe, but we are nearing the end of our second Unit of Inquiry. For our summative, students will be required to recreate an ancient artifact from one of the three civilization we learned about. An information package and rubric will be sent home sometime next week. We will begin our in-class summative on Monday, November 19th and the due date will be Thursday, November 29th. A kind reminder that all work is to be completed during class time only, unless other wise stated.
