Good Afternoon Everyone!

Today we had a little change in our schedule. We started our day off with Inquiry into Language. We read most of Chapter 2 together as a class, then students finished the rest on their own. Some students got a chance to start on the Chapter 2 comprehension question. Tomorrow students will have more time to complete them.

Next were suppose to have French, but Mme. Rawan was away today. So we took up yesterdays Math homework as a class on the board. We went through each question to make sure students were aware of mistakes if there was any errors.

Here are some of our Math Helpers

Answers to Math Homework

Next we had time to catch up on anything we have not finished yet. Students worked on finishing questions to Chapter 1, Finished reading Chapter 2, worked on our spelling words with a partner for our spelling test tomorrow.

After lunch and recess we had Inquiry into Math: today we learned how to create a table to order the area of a country from greatest to least. We did an example as a class, then students worked on questions 1,2 and 5 in the textbook. To finish our Math period we played the game that would have been for homework tonight as a class. It was the students vs. the teacher. Students picked a number out of the bag to make the biggest number possible, then Ms. Cass made up her own numbers. Then students had to see if it was greater than or less than Ms. Cass's answers. It was fun!

Our Greater than and Less than Game
Ms. Cass was Player A and the students were Player B.
Ms. Cass wins!!!

Following Math we had Unit of Inquiry. Again, today we joined Mrs. Hocevar's and Mr. Conte's class to do some experiments. Students had to hypothesize before the experiment and then write their observations following the experiment.

Experiment 1: solids to NOT take the shape of a container/beaker

Experiment 2: Pressing water and gas.
We learned that the air in a syringe is gas.
We also learned that liquids take the shape of its container/syringe.

Experiment 3: we learned that if we fill a beaker with 250ml of water
and put 100ml of that water into and syringe, then put the water in the syringe back into the beaker,
the volume of the liquid stays the same.

To finish our day we had Reading Buddies with Ms. Fisher's JK class for the first time this year!
