A message from one of the Grade 6 Exhibition groups:

Donate to people who are homeless

Hi!!, Our names are Mona, Joana, and Shivam.

We are doing a project called Exhibition where we choose a topic we are interested in and want to research more about in order to make a positive difference in our world. We chose the topic of homelessness because we do not want anyone to be without their basic needs. Every person has the right to have a home and food to eat and clothing to wear.
We are collecting donations so that we can donate them to Angela’s Place, a homeless shelter right here in Mississauga.
You can donate:
  • Non perishable food
  • Clothing (for all ages such as Pants, shirts, hats ,shoes and more)
  • Toiletries (mouthwash, feminine products, toothpaste, toothbrush, and deodorant)
  • Seasonal clothing
  • Baby formula
  • Diapers
  • Baby products

Reason why we are doing this= Our plan is to help people who are homeless who need food and clothing and any other useful materials. After collecting these materials, we are going to donate all these items to a shelter called “Angela's Place” (45 Glenn Hawthorne Blvd, Mississauga, ON L5R 4J9).

Thank you so much for making the world a better place!

Please bring items to Ms. Jaskolka's class (Room 30) by Tuesday, April 23rd!

Silent dance forms have been sent home. If you would like to attend, please fill out the permission form and bring in $20 (Cash only please). Forms and money are due Tuesday, April 23rd.

Inquiry into Mathematics

Today in math we began our new unit: transformation geometry. Today we focused on translations. A translation is when a figure slides from one place to another. For example, if you have the point A (5,3) and you translate it four squares right and one square down, the new point will be A' (9,2).
We say 'A prime' and write A’ when referring to the points on the new image. Remember when a figure is translated, all of the points are translated by the same value.

In class we worked on a sheet about translations (lesson 1). If that sheet was not completed, please complete it for homework tonight. Also, please complete the translation of shapes sheet (front and back) for homework, due tomorrow.

Unit of Inquiry

Today we continued working on our UOI summative. For this summative students will research a species of their choice and create a podcast to inform the rest of us about the species they chose. It may be an audio or video podcast. The podcast is due on Friday, April 26th.

Our final unit of the year will be about coding. All students will be required to have a working laptop, not device, for this unit.
