Good Afternoon Everyone!

I hope you had a terrific night ! Tomorrow is day 6 (Ski Trip).  A kind reminder about tomorrow.
We will be boarding the bus shortly before 7:00 AM tomorrow morning. Students are being asked to arrive at school between 6:30 and 6:45 AM (not any earlier please). We will be back at the school for dismissal between 3:30 and 3:45 PM.

Girls are asked to wear their hair in a braid or in a low ponytail. Students must bring proper outdoor ski gear - snow pants, winter coats, mitts and a neck warmer. Students may also bring a hat to wear outside, but the helmets they will wear when skiing are similar to hats. Students may wear warm, comfortable casual clothing for under their outdoor gear. Students have the option of bringing a disposable lunch or purchasing lunch. It can be rather expensive, so please ensure you are sending enough money. If students have their own equipment, they may bring it, however we are unsure of the type of bu. s we will be using tomorrow, so the equipment may have to stay at school. Glen Eden will have rentals for everyone.

We have another gym field trip coming up. We are going to Cave Rock Climbing. Please fill in the permission form and the waiver (both sides) and return no later than Friday, March 29th.

March Break Homework: (Optional). Today I sent home two packages for students to complete during the March Break if they wish. It will help prepare students for our next DRA, our current math unit and to prepare for our next Unit of Inquiry.
Fraction Package
- DRA package - Robinson Crusoe

- Research Biodiversity - our next UOI unit

Spirit Week is taking place next week, Monday, March 4th to Friday, March 8th
Thursday, March 7th - Sports Day - we will be skiing this day
Friday, March 8th - St. Patrick’s Day - please wear green

Lately, we have been seeing a lot of hoodies that are not in presentable condition. If hoodies have the letters of the house peeling off (or have already come off) and are overall not in presentable condition, they will not be allowed to be worn. New ones must be purchased if they are going to continue wearing them.

**Please do not order lunch on the following day – April 26th.**

Please ensure that students are sent to school with proper outdoor gear - winter coats, hats, mitts, winter boots, scarves, etc. Students will not be allowed to stay in at recess if they are not dressed accordingly. I thank you for your support.

Don't miss out on your chance to reserve your spot for our March Break Camp!!

Summer camp flyers have been sent home! Please fill out the form and return to school!

Thank you to Kappa for hosting today's house game! Congratulations to all houses for your team spirit and hard work, you all did amazing!

Unit of Inquiry

Today in UOI we completed our summatives presentations. We had some spare time at the end of the day to have a class vote on the four different countries! All groups did an amazing job on their new governments. I wish could visit each country!

Voting Time!

Inquiry into Mathematics

Today in math we learned about ordering and comparing mixed numbers and fractions. Please see below for the examples we did in class.
Warm up exercise

Points to Remember:
To convert an improper fraction to a mixed number, we divide the numerator by the denominator, subtract, and then the remainder becomes our new numerator. For example, 5/13 - 5 goes into 13 2 times, which is 10 - 13 subtract 10 is 3. Therefore, my mixed number is 2 and 3/5.

To convert a mixed number into an improper fraction we multiply the whole number by the denominator and add the product to the numerator. For example, 2 and 3/4 - 2 x 4 = 8 +3 = 11. Therefore, the improper fraction is 11/4.

To find an equivalent fraction with a greater numerator and denominator, multiply the numerator and denominator by the same number. For example, 5/12 = 10/24 (2 x 5 and 2 x 12) and 25/60 (5 x 5 and 5 x 12). To findequivalent fractions with a lesser numerator and denominator, divide the numerator and denominator by the same number. For example, 24/60 = 4/10 (24/6 and 60/6). When we find an equivalent fraction by dividing, you simplify the fraction. 24/60 = 4/10 = 2/5 (4/2 and 10/2). This is the simplest form as the only factor into both 2 and 5 is 1.

Inquiry into Language

Today in language students filled out page 10 of the report card and students completed their student reflections for our government unit. During our government we focused on being open-minded and caring. Once students finish their reflection they collected work to put in their IB Binders.
