Good Afternoon Everyone!

I hope everyone had a wonderful night! Tomorrow is day 2 (Music, French and Gym). Please bring in your gym clothes and shoes.

Reminder please do not order lunch on the following days – February 20th (second ski trip), March 7th (third ski day) and March 27th (Legislative Assembly field trip)

A note from Ms. Melissa regarding re-registration packages - Just a friendly reminder that re-registration packages are due no later than Monday, February 11.  After this time, spots will be opened up to the public and your child will not be guaranteed a space for next year.  We look forward to seeing you back for next year! **If we are the first class to have all registration forms returned we will have a pizza party and movie afternoon the Friday before March Break. Drinks and treats will be included!!** Lets get those forms in Grade 5's!! It can be a very fun day!

Parent Guild is spreading the COOKIE LOVE for Valentine's Day. If you would like to decorate cookies form are due TOMORROW. You can buy cookies in sets of 4 for $5!

A note regarding speeches – Due to our growing population at SJA, this year poems/stories/speeches will be split into two days. On Thursday, February 7th, JK-Grade 2 will recite their poems and stories and on Friday, February 8th, Grade 4-8 will recite their speeches.

The Grade 5 team sent home a notice regarding our field trip to The Legislative Assembly of Ontario in Toronto on Wednesday, March 27th. The cost of the trip is $7 per student. Please return permission form by March 6th. ** Please do not order hot lunches for this day. Unfortunately, you will not be reimbursed and lunches will not be saved on this date**

Today we had our Jump Rope for Heart assembly. Nicole from Heart and Stroke taught us the importance of keeping our heart and brain healthy. She told us that the best activity to keep our heart healthy is to skip, thus is why SJA will be participating in Jump Rope for Heart on Thursday, February 14th. As a class, we have set our personal goal at $200. That is just $12.50 per person. Our school goal is $2500. Students should not be going door to door rather should be asking friends and family. A form was sent home on how to set up an online account to fundraise and what prizes you can earn through raising money! Remember if you fundraise online you win bonus prizes!! Thank you in advance for your donations!

Our class has raised $215!!! Keep up the great work Grade 5's

A kind reminder that all students must wear proper winter items for recess; this includes coat, hat, mittens, scarf, snow pants and boats. If students do not come to school with these items they will still be asked to go outside, so please come prepared!

A message from Mrs. Hayward: Our book fair will be taking place during the week of February 4th to 8th.

Inquiry into Language

Today we in language students who did not get to practice in front of the class yesterday, got the chance to stand in front of the class and present their speech. Tomorrow I will be holding the speech and the students are suppose to have it memorized. I will make notes where students can improve on to memorize their speech over the weekend. We will select the top 6 students from Grade 5 on Monday.

Inquiry into Mathematics

Today students continued to work on their math test. Our next unit is Perimeter, Area and Volume.
