On Friday January 18th our class will be having our pizza party for winning the door decorating contest! Yummmmmm..
A kind reminder that all students must wear proper winter items for recess; this includes coat, hat, mittens, scarf, snow pants and boats. If students do not come to school with these items they will still be asked to go outside, so please come prepared!
The Grade 5 team has sent notice regarding Fridays lesson for UOI. On Friday, January 18th, all students will spend the period learning about both reproductive systems. We will focus on images, proper terminology and puberty. Mrs. Hocevar and myself will be teaching the girls, and Mr. Conte and Mr. Orr will be teaching the boys. Please have a read and let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
A note from Mr. Foster, Ms. Gandy, and Ms. Brasil:
As part of our summative assessment the Grade One classes have decided to open a market to complement our organization unit. The market will include fruits, vegetables, drinks, and other healthy snacks. It will be held in rooms 25, 28 and 29. The market will take place all day Thursday, January. 24th and Friday, January. 25th. All profits made will be donated to the Sick Kid’s Hospital.
Re-registrations packages have been sent home. All completed forms are due back no later than February 11th, 2019, in order to save your spots for next year. After February 11th, it will be open to everyone.

Today in math we are learning how to construct and interpret data. As a class we all measure our hand spans and recorded it into a table, next we used the data we collected to construct a bar graph. We discussed the components that we must include in a graph such as a title, x and y axis labeled based on the data collect, and a scale for the x and y axis.

Today in language we began to write body paragraph 1 for our speeches. Some students finished early so they had a chance to get it edited by a peer. For those who did not finish it is for homework due tomorrow.

We will be beginning our summative on Monday, January 21st. This will be a group project, where groups will explore a system we did not cover in class. More information will be sent home sometime this week. Presentations will begin Friday, February 1st.
Action Star
Thank you 'A' for inquiring about if we (humans) can live with one lung. 'A' shared that humans can function the same as people with two lungs, but they have to be extra cautious when exercising, playing sports etc.
