Good Afternoon Everyone!

Today is the day! It is our Welcome Back BBQ!

We started our day off with Music with Mr. Oliver, and then had French with Mme. Rawan. Please see their blogs for further detail.

Next we had Inquiry into Math: today we focused on order of operationsBEDMAS = Brackets then Exponents then Division/Multiplication then Addition/Subtraction. An expression is a mathematical statement with numbers and operations. When we calculate the answer, we solve the expression.
We watched a short video to explain BEDMAS in more detail:
http://www.mathantics.com/section/lesson-video/order-of-operations

For example: 9+3 x 6 - 4 = 3 x 6 +9 - 4
                                        = 12 + 9 - 4
                                        = 21 - 4
                                        = 17
Another example: 7 x (4+ 8)
                            = 7 x (4 + 8)
                            = 7 x 12
                            = 84

Watching Order of Operations Video, and taking notes

Students worked in the MMS on pages 24/25.

Following recess and lunch, students had Gym with Mr. Orr.

Once students returned from Gym, we had Inquiry into Language: today we went over our Chapter 4 questions. We also read Chapter 5 of Percy Jackson and began to answer the comprehension questions.

To finish the day, during Unit of Inquiry: today we did some experiments to show density in different states of matter. Density is a measure of the closeness of particles in matter.

Experiment fun!

That being said, Dr. Kaur and Mr. Lee-Guide have offered to run a math club on Wednesday morning beginning at 8:00 AM for those who are interested. There is a $15 annual fee that must be paid and the test times begin at 7:15 AM. Committed students will write the tests on:
