The tentative schedule is as follows: On Thursday, JK and SK poems will run from 9:00-10:30 and Grades 1-3 stories will run from 11:00-1:00. A note regarding Caribou Math Contest - The next Caribou contest will take place on Wednesday February 13th, 2019. Please arrive at 7:15 am for a 7:30 am start. You will have one hour to complete the test. Bring your own device. Ensure your device is full charged. The next interactive question will be Sudoku which you students can practice now on the Caribou games page. This time grade 3/4 participants will have to solve a 6x6 Sudoku problem, although with an increased number of digits already inserted. There is no history question in the coming contest.
A kind reminder that all students must wear proper winter items for recess; this includes coat, hat, mittens, scarf, snow pants and boats. If students do not come to school with these items they will still be asked to go outside, so please come prepared!
The Grade 5 team sent home a notice regarding our field trip to The Legislative Assembly of Ontario in Toronto on Wednesday, March 27th. The cost of the trip is $7 per student. Please return permission form by March 6th. ** Please do not order hot lunches for this day. Unfortunately, you will not be reimbursed and lunches will not be saved on this date**
Today we had our Jump Rope for Heart assembly. Nicole from Heart and Stroke taught us the importance of keeping our heart and brain healthy. She told us that the best activity to keep our heart healthy is to skip, thus is why SJA will be participating in Jump Rope for Heart on Thursday, February 14th. As a class, we have set our personal goal at $200. That is just $12.50 per person. Our school goal is $2500. Students should not be going door to door rather should be asking friends and family. A form was sent home on how to set up an online account to fundraise and what prizes you can earn through raising money! Remember if you fundraise online you win bonus prizes!! Thank you in advance for your donations!
Our class has raised $215!!! Keep up the great work Grade 5's

Action Star
Congratulations to Vanshi for being the star student of the day!
I am very proud of all of our risk-takers who presented their speeches yesterday and today. Everyone is a winner for their own accomplishments. Although it was a very hard decision, the two students from our class who are moving on to the Top 6 on Friday are Ali and Aamna!! Congratulations!! They will be presenting their speeches between 9-10:30.
Inquiry into Mathematics
Today in math students wrote their pre-assessment for our volume, perimeter and volume unit.
Inquiry into Language
Today in language students wrote their student reflections for our last unit for UOI- Human Body. Students also pulled their best work, work they can improve on, and something they worked their hardest on to add to their student portfolio.
