Good Afternoon Parents!

I hope you had a great night! Tomorrow is International Day. Please send students to school wearing green, red and white or something Italian. If they are not wearing the colours of the flag or something Italian, they must wear their full school uniform. Parents and families are welcome to join us tomorrow from 2:30-3:15. Any Italian food donations would be greatly appreciated!! Please bring in food that is ready to serve and eat!! Tomorrow is gym day- from now on students will be bussed to the new Athletic Centre.

Unit of Inquiry

Today in UOI students began discussions about the Science Fair. Students used their journals to explore and brainstorm about the Science Fair and the scientific method. Students also used their devices to research different experiments. Today I sent home "What's the Matter" Summative. Please read over the summative with your student, sign it and return it back to school tomorrow

Our What’s the Matter summative is fast approaching. This summative will be their science fair project and it must relate to matter.  The due date for this summative will be Thursday, October 18th with in-class presentations happening then and on Friday, October 19th. Please note that students will be required to show their display again during our SJA Science Fair, which takes place on Friday, November 16th

Caribou Math Contest is an online mathematics contest that is held 6 times per year. Last year we did a trial run with a few students from Grade 6 and above. This year we are going to offer it to students in Grades 3 and up. This is something that will be done on a student’s own time. This will not be a focus of our math program. That being said, Dr. Kaur and Mr. Lee-Guide have offered to run a math club on Wednesday morning beginning at 8:00 AM for those who are interested – the math club has begun. There is a $15 annual fee that must be paid online at registration and the test times begin at 7:15 AM. Committed students will write the tests on:

Wednesday, October 17th, 2018
